    —Low-Voltage

    Why Choose Low-Voltage Lighting

Low-voltage lighting systems operate at 12 volts rather than standard 120-volt household current, offering several important advantages for outdoor lighting applications. The reduced voltage significantly lowers the risk of electrical shock, making low-voltage systems inherently safer for outdoor use around family, pets, and landscaping work. Low-voltage cable can often be buried at a shallower depth than standard line-voltage wiring, and in many cases doesn't require conduit protection, simplifying installation and reducing cost.

Low-voltage lighting is also more energy-efficient, particularly when paired with LED fixtures, and the transformer-based system makes it easy to add, move, or reconfigure fixtures as your landscaping changes over time. This flexibility makes low-voltage systems especially popular for landscape lighting that may need adjustment as gardens mature and outdoor spaces evolve.

    —Low-Voltage Lighting

    How Low-Voltage Lighting Systems Work

A low-voltage lighting system starts with a transformer that plugs into a standard outdoor GFCI-protected outlet or is hardwired to a dedicated circuit, converting 120-volt household current down to a safer 12-volt output. From the transformer, low-voltage cable runs to each fixture, distributing power throughout your landscape lighting design. Because the system operates at reduced voltage, the cable can typically be run with simpler burial requirements than standard electrical wiring, and fixtures can be connected using simple wire connectors rather than the more involved junction box requirements of line-voltage systems.

Proper transformer sizing is essential for a low-voltage system to perform correctly — an undersized transformer will result in dim fixtures, particularly those farthest from the transformer, while a correctly sized transformer with appropriate wire gauge selection ensures even, reliable illumination across your entire lighting design.

Panels and breakers also age, and some older models are more prone to nuisance tripping or, conversely, to failing to trip when they should — both of which we can evaluate during a visit.

Call us anytime at (425) 371-8570 to discuss the right low-voltage system for your property.

    -Voltage

    Our Low-Voltage Lighting Installation Process

Our low-voltage lighting installation process begins with evaluating your property and lighting goals to design a system that achieves the look and function you want. We plan fixture placement for pathways, landscape features, and outdoor living areas, calculate total system wattage to correctly size your transformer, plan cable runs and wire gauge to prevent voltage drop at fixtures farthest from the transformer, and select fixtures appropriate for your design and budget.

The installation process involves mounting and connecting the transformer to a GFCI-protected power source, running low-voltage cable to all fixture locations with appropriate burial or protection, installing and connecting all fixtures, testing the complete system for correct and even illumination, and making final adjustments to fixture aim and positioning to achieve your desired lighting effect.

Ready to install a low-voltage lighting system? Call us anytime at (425) 371-8570 for a free estimate.

    — Landscape Lighting

    Low-Voltage Path and Landscape Lighting

Low-voltage systems are the most common choice for pathway lighting, landscape accents, and garden illumination due to their safety, flexibility, and ease of adjustment as landscaping matures. We install low-voltage path lights along walkways and driveways, spotlights and well lights for highlighting trees and garden features, and accent lighting for retaining walls, water features, and other landscape elements.

Planning low-voltage lighting for your landscape? Call us anytime at (425) 371-8570.

    —Low-Voltage Deck

    Low-Voltage Deck and Step Lighting

Low-voltage lighting is also an excellent choice for deck and step lighting, providing safe illumination for outdoor living spaces without the complexity of running line-voltage circuits to multiple deck-mounted fixtures. We install low-voltage deck lights, step lights, and railing lighting that improve safety and ambiance for evening use of your deck or outdoor stairs.

Want low-voltage lighting for your deck or steps? Call us anytime at (425) 371-8570

    —Upgrading Low-Voltage

Upgrading or Repairing Existing Low-Voltage Systems

Many homes already have low-voltage lighting systems installed by a previous owner or through a landscaping project, and these systems sometimes develop problems over time including failed transformers, damaged cable connections, fixtures that have stopped working, or systems that were undersized from the original installation and never performed correctly. We diagnose and repair existing low-voltage lighting systems, replace failed transformers and fixtures, and can redesign and expand systems that need more capacity or better coverage.

Have an existing low-voltage system that needs repair or expansion? Call us anytime at (425) 371-8570

    —Permits

    Low-Voltage Lighting Permits

Low-voltage lighting installations typically do not require electrical permits since they operate on the low-voltage side of a transformer, though the circuit supplying power to the transformer itself must meet code requirements including GFCI protection for outdoor locations. We ensure your transformer's power source is properly installed and code-compliant, and advise you if any aspect of your specific project requires permitting

Honest and Upfront We were dealing with a shorted circuit in our house for going on a month and every other electrician that came out for a quote to fix the issue would cost me 250+ ending with an astronomical quote. This was not only frustrating but costing me a fortune and making the problem less traceable the more each company had their hands on it. I called REddie Electric and, after a few general questions on the issue and house, Eddie was able to give me a solid quote on replacing the outdated and rusted panel box along with the circuit to restore the power to the spare room in our house. We were scheduled within a week and the process spanned over 2 days with power only being out for a total of 7 hours on day 2. They replaced our outdated 125 amp panel box with a new 200 amp panel box and quickly discovered a solution to the circuit problem that had been bugging us for weeks. The electricians Vadim and Yasir were super respectful of our home and always kept us in the loop with what’s going on. Communication was never a problem and was always super fast and friendly.

The electrician, Vadim, who worked at my place was friendly and professional. My 5 smoke detectors were replaced with the newest model and everything was cleaned up afterward. I also had a surge protector installed in my circuit panel box.

Vadim and Yasir came out to replace and rewire a faulty GFCI receptacle and they were super quick and efficient in getting it completed. I had a couple of questions regarding quotes and different available options, and they were knowledgeable and kind in answering all of them. Will use their services again!

Excellent support from REddie! Had a mysterious electrical issue with 5 receptacles in a 48 year old home that has had multiple projects. Timely response, extensive troubleshooting resources spent identifying a rather obscure location for a loose neutral. Vadim & Yasir were friendly, professional and highly effective. Identified and Updated some code issues in the process.

Eddie was an absolute pleasure to work with. Due to a scheduling mix-up, I found myself in a real bind, with other workers scheduled for the following day who couldn’t do their jobs until I had electricity run above my fireplace. Eddie went out of his way to rearrange his schedule and somehow managed to get someone to my house within just a couple of hours. The electrician he sent—I wish I could remember his name—did an excellent job. He asked lots of questions to make sure everything was done exactly the way I wanted it, carefully measured and double-checked the placement before drilling, and the finished work looks beautiful. He also cleaned everything up thoroughly before he left. I really appreciated Eddie going above and beyond to help me out on very short notice. Great service, excellent workmanship, and a company I would definitely use again.

I found REddie Electric on a Google search looking to update all 9 of the hardwired smoke detectors in my home. Communication has been exceptional, I have been able to text with questions and requests, and received prompt responses, this quality of communication is really important in my world! I received a quote quickly for installation of 9 hardwired “smart” detectors, and was required to pay a 30% deposit to schedule. Yasir arrived on time, was professional, and did an excellent job with installation, testing and clean up. Wonderful attention to detail and was kind enough to greet all my cats and allow them to “help out”. He connected all detectors to my WiFi and Ring app. I really appreciate the ability to be notified of alarms when I am away from my home, and to be able to turn them off without having to push the physical button. I highly recommend REddie Electric, and will use them in the future for other services they offer.

I'm new to the Area and Found REddie Electric LLC on Google. Submitted them a request to install a 240v outlet in the garage in order to have an EV car charger. They responded back super quick and gave me a solid fair quote for the work. I gave them a call and Eddie told me he'd be out the next morning. Super transparent communication. Pricing is great, and the work was done in a very timely manner. Eddie has a great work ethic and professional outlook on the jobs he takes. I'll definitely be back for more jobs.
